S1: Monday
Adam Levinstein
Photographer
I’m a photographer, videographer, and graphic designer. I love shooting wedding and engagement photos in Laguna Beach where the rocky coast at sunset provides an incredible setting for a couple to begin their life journey together.
Cristian Chias
Animating Big Trees
Hi, I’m Cristian but you can also just call me Chias! Born and raised in good ol’ Southern California! I am an Animator, Illustrator, and Filmmaker. As a creative artist, I focus on making the best with my work, whether its animations, comics, characters, stories, or anything else. Besides who wouldn’t want to see their small idea grow into a great big tree someday? Life’s one big adventure, so best make the best of it, and what better way than art?
Daniel Cox
An Immersive World
My love from art stems from its ability to emotionally connect with an audience, and reflect reality through the artist’s eyes. So as an illustrator and animator my main goal is to bring a sense of life and emotion to the characters I create as well as build an immersive world for them to live in. My vision as an artist is work in television. I see myself working in a collaborative environment helping to make shows that push narrative in new ways and developing characters that audiences can relate to.
Hannah Cunningham
Succulents & Oil Painting
I was born and raised in Long Beach, California. The day before my eighteenth birthday, I flew across the country to begin a new adventure in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I am now living in Long Beach again where I can tend to my love for succulents, oil painting, writing, and the exploration of the Southern California art scene. Professionally, I am well-versed in promotional event planning, social media management, program administration, and membership management.
Harumi Deluna
A Passion for Graphic Design
As a Graphic Designer, my quest is to unlock an approach to each project that uniquely communicates my client’s vision to their customers. Often small details and subtle notes can be the difference between an ordinary design and one that truly speaks to an audience. I strive to create graphic design projects that are fun and refreshing.
Kate Le
My name is Kate, and I am a Type & Color Addict.
I’m passionate about branding, website design, and advertising. I focus on clean design, attractive packaging, logos, and websites for clients across the globe. I’m addicted to typography and color theory. Los Angeles via San Diego.
Lindsey Guest
User Experience Design
I’m passionate about User Experience Design because I love creating products that people will use and interact with daily: apps websites, virtual reality, augmented reality. The process of gathering data and analyzing it to find the human patterns that help design a product is endlessly inspiring for me.
Mai Nguyen
A Traveler in the Undiscovered Artworld
As a traveler in the undiscovered artworld, I look for opportunities to translate life experiences into art. Fantasy fairy tales are a primary inspiration for me. I start by focusing on story. Everything exists with a story behind it.
Sharon Benyamin
Graphic Designer
As a Southern California Graphic Designer I create identity systems including logos, business cards, and other elements. I’m excited to bring new possibilities with 3D printing and modeling to my clients. I do portraiture in both photography and painting.
Shelby Ly
Visual Communication is Vital
I am a graphic designer and illustrator based in California. I studied graphic design at California State University of Long Beach, where I learned why visual communication is vital. I have experience doing logo design and vector art and I enjoy doing them.
Whether I’m watching tutorials, listening to artist lectures, doing challenges, visiting artist’s websites, reading articles, or documenting packaging design in public, I am always interested in how I can improve my craft. When I am designing, I create with the intention of transforming effective concepts into reality that is visually compelling.
Veronica Deltoro
Exploring Illustration
I am an illustrator that explores how things are made. Whether it is paintings, animations or making books, being able to create something from nothing is always a fun challenge.
S2: Wednesday
Amro Emghaoech
Breathing Life into Characters
I’m a Character Animator with a passion for storytelling through animation. I pursue new and advanced ways to create animation. Animation is my gateway for fun, expression, and sharing my imagination with others. I try to challenge myself with complexly mobile characters and sophisticated actions.
I design characters fully even if they are not used in their intended story-line, and every character I design comes with a concept. Every concept has a relatable story, be it the characters mentality or the events taking place around them.
Eric Diaz
Graphic Design
I love art! I feel lucky to live in a time when I can have a career helping others communicate with the tools of my trade. From traditional tools like mural painting, to digital tools like Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, I love helping people achieve their communication goals.
Evelyn Delgado
Identity, Political Issues, and Life Itself
My work is a reflection of personal experience. Through video and performance art I share the feelings and ideas of my experiences. Topics I explore include Identity, Political Issues like immigration and human rights, and the complex idea of our purpose in life.
As a visual artist, I’ve worked with many media: from fiber to metals. I document this work with video and photography. I strive to create art that breaks down a feeling or experience and lets us more fully understand it.
Georgina Fang
Visual Development Artist
I live and breathe stories! I draw characters & create worlds constantly. I’ve found an endless stream of ideas and inspiration in the simple things of life: from a potato falling on the floor to the amazing range of things that people do.
Irving Pacheco
Quality, on time
I focus on graphic design, motion, typography, and sound design/audio production.
For me, it starts with the basics: hard work, attention to detail, manage myself and my teams effectively and efficiently. Communication is always key. My goal is to produce the strongest work possible. And to never miss a deadline.
Jaime Lee
Hi, I’m Jaime and I’m a designer!
I found that my love for organization and desire to keep things color coordinated would actually help me find a career and a newfound passion. I love taking quotes and any silly thing I hear from my friends and turning them into pseudo-companies and designs for t-shirts and hopefully for a clothing brand I hope to launch.
Jessica Lai
Graphic Designer & Illustrator
I create whimsical and colorful designs for posters, flyers, invitations, and brochures. I’m interested in working in gaming or animation. Or anything relating to animals (because I love them!)
Outside of work, I enjoy taking portraits of my friends, family, and my cat. And drawing fan art of games and animes I love.
Jimmy Martinez
Branding & Graphic Design
I love working with small clients and branding projects that include logo design, packaging, print layout, and more.
Kaferman Guan
The Satisfaction of Creation
I create diverse content born from life experiences. As an illustrator, I want to try everything! I want to chase after the satisfaction of creation. Day in, day out, I’m exploring the range of my voice.
Currently, I’m fascinated by the ways nature has evolved specialized geometries of form and function for its continued survival; its willingness to adapt and hone itself is what I draw inspiration from.
Karisa Jiang
Creating Characters
I’m seeking a career designing characters and animation for TV series, movies, and video games. Creating the experience of movement from many still images has always fascinated me. It always will. Creating a fictional character, then giving it the capability to move and even describe personality, is what I strive to accomplish in all of my work, 2D or 3D.
McKenzie Logan
A Free Flowing Pulsation
It all begins with a spark of divine inspiration, a creative and intelligent force of potentiality. Then, a free flowing pulsation from my heart’s intention imprints the universe. As an intuitive artist, I allow myself to let go of my mind’s mechanical activity by channeling through my creative heart space. Here, I can now exist within the natural flow of the universe and channel infinite possibilities. My art is the true projection of my energy manifesting. My style decorates space through form, vibration, color, pattern, and line.
Melissa Fernandez
Time, Space & Energy
Animator & Illustrator. Animation is an art form distinctive from others because it incorporates time, space, and energy. I capture not images, but movements. I encapsulate a feeling or mood with these three components, whether it’s traditional, computer, or experimental animation.
These concepts are extended to my other artistic works such as illustration and 3D modeling. No matter the medium, charcoal or Autodesk Maya, the energy of a subject can be channeled with my understanding of 2D and 3D forms. It is my attention to detail and focus that make it possible to bring subjects to life.
Rosaura Godinez
I can’t see my life without drawing and painting
I’ve always enjoyed drawing. As an introvert kid I found that my drawings were a way to make friends. In high school I was introduced to acrylic paint and I learned to express my drawing through a new medium much more clearly. Now I have matured and developed as an artist and I can’t see my life without drawing and painting.
I came to the United States when I was just nine years old, the language and culture were new to me and I had to assimilate in order to prosper. I found art as a way to display parts of my life as an undocumented student in the United States. I enjoy drawing and painting my native culture and the culture I’ve matured in.
Sheila Ponce
Design Solutions
For me, Graphic Design is about solutions. I’m here to empower my clients to communicate persuasively with their audience. From a logo, to a corporate identity system, to branding a company, it’s about the creativity and attention to details that make a competitive edge in the marketplace.
Sydnie Ortiz
Graphic Designer
As a Graphic Designer, I live to help people communicate. I see every project, and every “problem”, as a chance to communicate better. To share ideas more persuasively. Design is communication is problem solving.
Today I communicate with computers, mobile devices, social media, graphic tablets, and many networked tools. But it all traces back to my childhood love of drawing. Some kids dribble a basketball on their driveway for 10,000 hours. I drew for 10,000 hours. Whatever I was doing, I imagined characters, worlds, and stories. I pretended. I created.
Born in San Francisco, you’ll currently find me in the Los Angeles area where I am a Graphic Designer at 2GGaming, and help with Tech Support at Roblox.com. If there are any minutes left, I’ll probably be streaming games on Twitch. Or at the dog park.
Tran Cao
Emotion is a universal language
I create graphic designs that evoke an emotional reaction, and a call to action. As an artist whose first language is not English, I communicate with viewers through graphic design. At its best, graphic design becomes emotional communication that words cannot describe.

Sharing our Stories
My favorite part of the CSULB School of Art (SOA) is visiting the SOA Art Gallery Courtyard each week. Every week 5 more student artists share their unique lives, experiences, and aesthetics with the campus community.
My one disappointment is that so many of these engaging artists don’t have websites. I’m fortunate this semester to be teaching the SOA’s first ePortfolios for Artists class. If the students have learned half as much as I have this semester, then they have learned a lot.
A portfolio is a never-ending part of an artist’s life journey. I feel privileged to have helped these students launch web portfolios. I am excited to see where the sinuous paths of their careers take them in the years and decades to come.
Julie Pavlacka (Teaching Assistant)
Concert & Portrait Photography
I’m a live music and portrait photographer, and Founder and Editor of Veusik Music Publication.
Photography and music have always been my biggest passions. While I photograph concerts I strive to capture the unique energy that the performers and crowds create. I love that a simple photograph can capture so much emotion and personality. Taking a photo allows a split second to be viewed by others and become a memory that does not fade away with time.
I believe that there is a great power in choosing which moment will live on forever in a photograph.
