Begun March 2020 & promptly postponed by COVID. Hoping to restart in February 2022.

  1. Jet Propulsion Laboratory – Mars Perseverance – not so much the well-documented project itself, but the stories of some of the scientists and engineers who make the exploration happen.
  2. Homeboy Industries / Homegirl Cafe – similarly, Father Boyle’s 3-decades of gang work in Los Angeles is well-documented, but I think it would be compelling to tell the stories of some of the participants.
  3. Museum of Jurassic Technology – one of SoCal’s smallest, most idiosyncratic, and for me personally, most extraordinary museums. I’d love to document the museum, David Wilson, and the kool-aid-drinkers who’ve banded together to tell the stories of people who didn’t make it into the history books.
  4. The Getty Conservation Institute – in addition to The Getty’s ambitious exhibition schedule, the world’s richest museum’s Conservation Institute is a global leader in art conservation. The stories of the people who take on the technical, detailed work of preserving human history could make for compelling storytelling.
  5. Venice Glow Flow – for 8 years now Bianca Ernano has organized a group of “Flow Artists” who meet in a park at Venice Beach. LED hoop artists, jugglers, fire dancers, and more. I’d love to profile the loose amalgam of people and tell some of the individual stories.
