Art110 Spring 2015 – Final – SOA Scavenger Hunt!

This semester we’ve seen sixty exhibitions in the CSULB School of Art Galleries! And you’ve had a chance to talk to almost that many artists. For our Final SOA Scavenger Hunt we’ll at last get to take a peek at where some of that art is made. The CSULB School of Art offers BA & BFA degrees in 13 Program areas:

  • Bachelor of Arts: Offered in Art Education, Art History, and Studio Art.
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts: Offered in ten Studio Art programs: Ceramics, Drawing & Painting, Fiber, Graphic Design, Illustration, Metals, Photography/ Digital, Printmaking, Sculpture/ Intermedia, and Wood.

A few of those programs have agreed to let us come by and take a peek at their facilities and learn a bit about the program. We’ll also visit SOA Undergraduate Advising, and the University Art Museum. You’ll be looking for these people:

  1. Christina Alegria
  2. Kimiko Miyoshi
  3. Elise Preiss
  4. Michael Nannery

And you’ll probably find them at one or other of these places:

  1. University Art Museum
  2. Printmaking Program
  3. Metals Program
  4. SOA Undergraduate Advising

Visit the 4 places listed above. Yes, I didn’t give building or room numbers. Poke your nose in someplace and ask someone – don’t be shy, everyone is friendly! At each location you’ll get a micro-tour of facilities or info about the program or the medium. Feel free to ask them any questions you might have.

3 are really close! 1 is a little further.

At the end of each visit the person there will Sign or Stamp or Emboss or Draw or Paint or Tie a loop of fiber or Burn a hole or something in/on your SOA Scavenger Hunt Card. When you’ve collected them all, come back to the SOA Gallery Courtyard and give your completed card to Glenn.

Mix It Up!

Please do visit ALL the areas, but please do not visit them in the order listed! Have your group take a random order, so we don’t have everyone in the same place at the same time! You have from 10:45 – 11:45 to visit these areas.

Key Essentials

  1. Have fun!
  2. Learn stuff!

Thank You!

Thanks you guys! It’s really been a great semester, seeing 60 SOA Art Exhibitions with you, and reading 40 blog posts about your conversations and activities. I hope visiting a few of the SOA Program Areas makes a fitting Final Activity for your time in Art110 and your visit to the CSULB School of Art.

Have a great summer!

— Glenn
