J22 Project Proposal

Synapse Dance Theater

Story Pitch

The Corsair’s foremost responsibility must be to covering the full breadth of people and activities at Santa Monica College (SMC). Additionally, when we review events we provide a document of what has passed, but we do not inform the campus community of opportunities present. Therefore, my project proposal is to create an ongoing series of photo stories documenting students developing work for this semester’s Synapse Dance Theater. By publishing biweekly photo stories on works in development by student choreographers I hope to present profiles on a half dozen SMC students and their work here, as well as to inform the larger campus community of this performance event coming to the SMC Performing Arts Center’s Broad Stage on May 24 & 25, 2019. This semester-long photo story concludes with a final piece documenting the journey from auditions to the stage.

Deadlines

Biweekly photo stories on student, faculty, and guest choreographers and the pieces they are developing. Final overarching photo story at the end of May 2019. I will meet with Corsair Photo Editor Andrew Narvaez to show my progress, and update the production schedule, and produce the strongest possible presentation.
